Working Bee: It was intended to hold a working bee this Saturday (28/1/12) to move tyres & track watering sprinkler heads from certain areas of the track - in preperation for Council earthmoving contractors to commence major excavation works on Mon 6/2/12. However the rain has soaked the ground, and we will be unable to get trucks, bobcats and mini excavators onto the track for this work.
The working bee is rescheduled for Sat 4 Feb from 7.00am to approx midday; and Members are invited to come along and assist with this project.
We also need wippersnipping, mowing and a rubbish bin pick up around the track areas; so please bring a wippersnipper or mower along.
In return, the Club will provide a sausage sizzle and drinks. 2011 Members will also have the opportunity renew their (free) 2012 membership, and pick up a new membership card.
Please note - 1. We will not be accepting any new Members until the Club is operational (expected to be in March). 2. As the Club is not operational (and not producing income), we will not be offering free ride tickets for people attending this working bee.
Stage 1 Track Reconfiguration for Practice Day use only.
Stage 2 Track Reconfiguration for full Competition use (1st Draft approx 1,600 Metres - currently 1,450m).
The Management Committee met with Council Represenatives on 21/12/11 to discuss the necessary work required to be able to re-open the facility. This will be achieved in 2 stages described below; and progress in line with the Council set timetable (link below).
9/1/12 - the Mgmt Com'te met with Council Reps and agreed to draft track plans (see links on this home page)
23/1/12 - the Mgmt Com'te met with Council Reps and formailsed Stage 1 track plans and timetable for completion (rain/weather permitting).
Stage 1 will necessitate a temporary track reconfigeration in areas that are deemed to cause too much noise to escape from the facility. When these works are completed, it's expected that Council will allow the Club to recommence practice days - but not competition race days.
Stage 2 will necessitate a comprehensive track reconfigeration, including the relocation of the start gates & score tower (and maybe other structures). When these works are completed, it's expected that Council will allow the Club to recommence competition racing.
Gold Coast City Council timetable for works at Stanmore Park.
Track Closed this Weekend. The track is closed for riding until advised by Council that we can re-commence activities. The Club expects to receive official notification from Council regarding their plan and timetable for re-opening, in the near future. Once this information is known, it will then be posted on the web site.
